Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published nor is it before another journal for consideration; or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor.
  • The submission file is in PDF format.
  • All URL addresses in the text (e.g., http://www.rutgers.edu/) are activated and ready to click.
  • The text meets this journal's formatting requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines found in About the Journal.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.

Author Guidelines

Submission

EJBE: Electronic Journal of Boundary Elements accepts exclusive submissions of original manuscripts that have not been previously published and are not forthcoming in print or online in a scholarly journal, book, or other publishing format. When submitting, Authors agree not to submit a manuscript for electronic or print publication in another journal until the EJBE decides to accept or reject it, or until the Author withdraws this submission.

Copyright

Authors own the copyright to their articles. The authors have, however, consented to the following provisions associated with their copyright:

    1. Authors grant the EJBE the right to publish and archive their articles for an unlimited time and to make their articles available to readers (see item 2 below) on the World Wide Web, or through whatever medium the EJBE determines is best to accomplish its purposes, whether the medium is now known or developed in the future.

    1. Authors agree that the EJBE is an open access journal made available by a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 3.0 United States License (read the human-readable summary or the full license legal code. Under this license, authors retain ownership of the copyright for their articles, but authors allow anyone to download, reuse, reprint, modify, distribute, and/or copy articles in EJBE so long as the original authors and source are cited and the use is noncommercial. Permission is required only for commercial or other uses not permitted by the Creative Commons license.

    1. To help maintain the distinctive nature of the EJBE and the tradition of scholarly publications, for one year from the date of initial publication in the EJBE, authors are encouraged not to publish their article in any other scholarly journal, print or online, open access or non-open-access.

    1. Authors agree to let the EJBE use their articles to create compilations for sale that consist of selected articles from the EJBE journal for the sole purpose of financially supporting the continuing publication of the EJBE.

  1. Authors agree to let the EJBE provide articles to document delivery services and abstracting indexing services.

Disclaimers

    1. The First Author is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the data, facts, references, and copyediting in his or her submission and for securing co-author agreement to the terms of the EJBE "Copyright" policy above and all other journal policies.

    1. Authors are responsible for obtaining the proper permissions to use material in their articles for which they do not own copyright and which is not covered by Fair Use.

    1. All authors warrant that an article contains no material which violates any copyright belonging to any third party, or which is defamatory, an invasion of privacy, or otherwise illegal.

  1. Authors shall indemnify and hold the EJBE, the Rutgers University Libraries, and Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey harmless from any claims that a manuscript and/or an article infringes a third party's copyright or contains inaccurate, defamatory, or otherwise unlawful material or constitutes an invasion of privacy.

Instructions for Authors

  • Text Area: The text area of the manuscript is 125mm wide x 190mm deep. All text, tables and figures must be within this area.
  • Page Extent: There is no page limit and colour figure and photographs are encouraged.
  • Font size: The main text should be set in 10 point Times Roman, using single line spacing. All text should be produced as a single column and Justified throughout.
    Main sections headings should be set in Bold and 12 point Times Roman and the second level headings set in 10pt Times Roman. The Title of the paper should be in 14-point Times Roman.
  • Style: Papers should have abstract and conclusions in addition to introduction and technical sections. References must be at the end of the paper in numeric order and set in the following order: Authors Surname, Initial, Title, Source, Volume, Page number, Year.
  • First Page: This page should contain the title of the paper, the author’s names and organisations, the abstract and the first part of the paper (i.e. Introduction). The abstract will consist of less than 200 words. For example: Boundary Element Methods in Engineering (14pt Times Roman) M.H.Aliabadi and P.H.Wen Department of Engineering, University of London, UK. Abstract (Bold, 12 Point) Figures and Tables: Figures and Tables must be numbered sequentially, i.e. Table 1. Stress Intensity Factors.
  • Pages Numbering: Please do not number the pages using the word processor.
  • File Format:Authors should prepare their files in PDF. Other formats should be converted to PDF.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
 

The data collected from registered and non-registered users of this journal falls within the scope of the standard functioning of peer-reviewed journals. It includes information that makes communication possible for the editorial process; it is used to informs readers about the authorship and editing of content; it enables collecting aggregated data on readership behaviors, as well as tracking geopolitical and social elements of scholarly communication.

This journal’s editorial team uses this data to guide its work in publishing and improving this journal. Data that will assist in developing this publishing platform may be shared with its developer Public Knowledge Project in an anonymized and aggregated form, with appropriate exceptions such as article metrics. The data will not be sold by this journal or PKP nor will it be used for purposes other than those stated here. The authors published in this journal are responsible for the human subject data that figures in the research reported here.

Those involved in editing this journal seek to be compliant with industry standards for data privacy, including the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provision for “data subject rights” that include (a) breach notification; (b) right of access; (c) the right to be forgotten; (d) data portability; and (e) privacy by design.
