Abstract

The article concerns the libel suit brought by Dr. Benjamin Rush against Cobbett, who claimed Rush medical methods were worthless and subsequently Cobbett's dispute with his own defense lawyer, Robert Goodloe Harper, who lost the suit. The financil loses due to the suite were high.  Cobbett was also Harper's publisher, so Cobbett demanded Harper deducted from his legal fees all the expenses related ito publishing Cobbett had done for him.  The "Harper bill" for the publishing expenses is transcribed here.
