Some Sixties Influences on Suellen Glashausser's Artists' Books

I examine the influence of two other major artist movements of the 1960s—pop art and conceptual art—and the contemporary idea of camp. I will argue that pop art and conceptualism helped to provide Glashausser with materials and subject matter, even the opportunity to choose the book as an artistic medium, and the contemporary notion of personal taste served to warrant the value of Glashausser's art.
